Tamar’s weekend shopping, museum visiting, and walking through this beautiful city!
Copenhagen
Activities
Nyhavn
Nyhavn is the port of Copenhagen and is lined with beautiful colorful buildings. It is a great place to eat lunch as it is lined with lots of cute cafes. (See header image above!)
Little Mermaid statue
There is a statue of the Little Mermaid that I had to see because that is my favorite Disney movie! You can take a walk through Churchill park to get to the statue.
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
One of my favorite sights was the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. It is a bit outside of Copenhagen, bet very easily accessible with the Metro. There were amazing installations and statues outside overlooking the water. Definitely worth the trip!
Stroget
Stroget is a part of town that has really amazing stores for shopping. It’s a car free, pedestrian only, street.
Tivoli Gardens
The Tivoli gardens is a cool amusement park that was unfortunately closed when I was there because they were decorating the park for Halloween.
Restaurants
A Hereford Beefstouw
A Hereford Beefstouw is a great restaurant near Tivoli. They have great steaks and an amazing Lobster dish. They also had a really nice wine selection.
Café Norden
In the heart of the shopping area of Stroget, there is an amazing restaurant that a friend recommended. It is called Cafe Norden and probably the best place I ate in Copenhagen. Great atmosphere too.
Hotel
Generator hostel Copenhagen
I stayed in a hostel called the Generator Copenhagen. I shared a room with 5 other girls, and we had our own bathroom with a shower in the room. Everyone has a large drawer that you can lock. There were about 100 rooms total and lots of activities and a bar/social area where you can meet with all of the other guests. I would highly recommend the Generator.
Transportation
I walked around everywhere, but getting around by bicycle is ideal! I have never seen such a well organized city that catered to bicycles.
Copenhagen Travel Tips:
Solo Travel – I traveled to Copenhagen by myself and I think it was the perfect place to travel alone, as a female. The city is small so it is easy to get around. I was walking around alone all day long and never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. Almost everyone speaks English around you. I did not stay out late at nights because I was so tired at the end of the day anyway, so I didn’t really socialize with others. But the hostel I was staying at had different events every night so you could easily go and meet new people if you were by yourself.
